We don't have any significant problem with invasive plants these days - there are a number of non-natives mixed in, but the native species are increasingly dominant as recovery progresses.

We used to have a real problem with Canadian Thistle in the upper field outside of the seasonal marsh, but after scything it for a few years it died back significantly, and with fewer grazing animals now it doesn't seem able to compete with native species.

  1. Growing up on this farm and working to restore the ecosystem here, I've learned that the best defense against most invasive species is a hands-off approach, as most invasive species can only gain a foothold when given the opportunity by human-origin disturbances.
