Today were the hearings in the California state Senate and Assembly for bill package that will get redistricting on the ballot in November. While most of the Legislators on both committees were in favor, most of the in person public comments were not. 1/

  1. On our side, we had dozens of union leaders, but not much in terms of individuals. On their side, they had dozens and dozens of individuals against pausing the Independent Redistricting Commission, many of them, former members of the commission itself. 2/

  2. There needs to be clear and concise education about why, how it would work, and what happens if you don't. All in one place. Not fear tactics...just blunt facts

  4. Many of the ones who were in opposition were conservative people, as well as local Republican group leaders, and the California Family Council.

    It got to the point where order needed to be called from Gail Pellerin several times when it turned into a shouting match.
