  1. Happy birthday Marsha P. Johnson, visionary and fiery Black trans activist who birthed a movement. She’d by 80 today, and should still be alive.

Her legacy is one of revolutionary advocacy for global LGBTQ+ liberation. Her life is a testament to the need for sex worker rights & decriminalization.

  3. how is anyone grappling with the ins and outs of how to finesse talking about this?!? if you do not viscerally believe and perceive that military troops deployed domestically for "law enforcement" is blatantly, horrifyingly wrong then go do accounting or something

Journalists writing about Trump's plans to send the National Guard to cities in blue states have to think carefully about how to frame it.

In the face of intense public opposition, the city’s Chamber of Commerce has gone to unusual lengths to promote Musk’s xAI facility: sending out a mailer, for the first time in recent memory, that inc...

  5. and this is why ive been saying "but crime is down" as a counter to trump is a miserable response

it needs to be a vehement "military occupation of a city is wrong here and everywhere, regardless of any given pretext"

I don't think you can entirely discount the "crime" narrative, especially when governors are pushing back by arguing that crime is down so they're unnecessary (implicitly accepting the premise).

But I do think you need to foreground that Trump is ordering military occupations of US cities.
