This seems like the most logical thing in the world to me. Just put a job site generator under the hood with a 10 gallon gas tank and wire it to an otherwise normal electric car with a ~50 kWh battery.
Yep. I have no idea why longer range isn't more normal for hybrids.
Also why they all seem to demand that stupidly complicated dual transmission! Why not just have the damned engine keep the battery charged? (Run at its most efficient, AND gives way better acceleration!)
