FWIW, the only other novel that immersive I've read in the last two years is Lev Grossman's The Bright Sword.

Terrence Stamp.😢 Ever since I was a kid, if there was an "and Terrence Stamp" credit a la WALL STREET I would get impatient waiting for the Terrence Stamp scenes. I love the interview where he says the key to playing Zod was to avoid being multifaceted and unpredictable.

This was the One Book, One Chicago selection in 2024.
I was reluctant as I don't care about video games, etc., but I was floored by how good it is.

Need to give this series a re-watch.
Like something from a Japanese horror film, the legendary and genuinely creepy Fifth Housemate lurked in the background of every episode of series one of THE YOUNG ONES (1982). I've watched the series countless times since I was 12 and only became aware of this about 7 or 8 years ago!
