  1. “Me lo he pasado bien, papá” (I had a good time, daddy). [on the paddle board with me]

I pray I never forget these small moments every day.

I close my eyes and try to burn them into my memories and write them down.

If life isn’t measured in these moments….

  2. Spain is a global example on immigration, boldly welcoming immigrants in while many do the opposite. Interesting timing on this piece, given racist incidents this summer at Torre Pacheco & continued by Vox, but overall, this is true. Signed, a U.S. immigrant in Spain. www.nytimes.com/2025/08/11/o...

Spain is having a moment bucking Western political trends. The country has recently recognized Palestine as a state, resisted President Trump's demand that NATO members increase their defense spending to 5 percent of gross domestic product and doubled down on D.E.I. programs. But there's no better example of Spain going its own way than immigration. At a time when many Western democracies are trying to keep immigrants out, Spain is boldly welcoming them in.

  3. Readers might keep in mind that almost no one in Spain refers to this building as a 'mosque-cathedral'. It is simply called 'la mezquita de Córdoba'. The mosque of Cordoba.

    Sunday Photo

The fire at Córdoba’s stupendous Mosque–Cathedral seems not to have been as bad as first feared (and certainly not as bad as that which engulfed Notre Dame). So, some photos of an astonishing building.

  4. It's funny to be in love with something for more than twenty years and the love never fades. Will always love seeing true tailors at work. Unfortunately these sorts of small shops continue to disappear.
