Granted,one could not vote in the Democrat primaries(but could vote against MAGAs), but it might confound GOP to mistakenly redistrict an area that is secretly Democrat as GOP.

The really infuriating part of this is that the pathetic governor of Texas has rolled out the welcome for Trump and quickly acquiesced to his demands for redistricting to ensure five more seats for republicans.
