This moment is not about the question "do you think things have gotten too woke in the last ten years?"
It's about the questions "do you believe in independent research under conditions of academic freedom? Do you believe in civil society and intermediate associations free of political control?
In this guy's counterfactual world, just to the extent that the freestanding Yale Institute for STEM succeeded in being a major, successful, prestigious, grant-getting, site for rigorous research and scientific breakthroughs... it would be in the crosshairs.
but something much more directly autocratic and concerned with domination.
They have not been targeting the most left-wing universities. They have not been targeting the most anti-Israeli universities. They have not been targeting universities based on whether they have gender studies.
And the excuses are just pretextual excuses for forcing independent powerful and prestigious institutions to bend the knee. Paying any attention at all to the last seven months of US politics should convince you that McMahon is not overseeing the enactment of Heterodox Academy's platform...
So, let's see.

This is, of course, why Trump simply lies all the time. He is both dumb and lazy. The flaw in our society in that we not only let this sort of blatant lying become socially acceptable, we made it a job skill in the investment world.
