I don't think platform exclusivity is the thing that determines the health of the industry in the future. In a vacuum, I would say they aren't great, but there scenarios where I think, for example, a walled garden buys Nintendo more space to ignore harmful industry trends.

There are a ton of complicating factors there, of course, but when I hear about this approach, I think of games like Outer Worlds, Pentiment, Psychonauts 2, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded etc.

Lot of people talking about smaller games as a silver bullet solution to AAA problems, but Microsoft did a ton of this after 2018's acquisition spree, had a bunch of successes, and still felt it had to abandon exclusivity to make the business viable.
