Republicans are waging a generalized war on science, but I think many of them don’t fully grok that RFK isn’t at war with science alone or per se: he’s at war with sick people, and of the view that only the lucky should be allowed to survive into old age. They are know nothings, he is Mengele.

RFK Jr. has now officially stated that he will dismantle the United States Preventive ServicesTask Force (USPSTF).

This is an independent body of expert scientists who volunteer their time to review data and provide guidance to Americans on important things like cancer screenings.

The task force determines which preventive services insurers must cover at no cost to patients.

  1. I feel like you are fighting a losing battle with the proper verb use of “grok” here Brian. I support it but it reminds me of when Tracy Jordan asked Liz Lemon if he could “google himself” in her office

  2. His coke dealer is apparently the only person who can end disabled genocide.

U could strongly argue they've been lazily drifting to this point pre covid (we can't even live on the pittance we get and our meds and treatments are constant fights) but they sure as Hell are going full genocide now

  3. America’s Mengele. Finally, someone else has stated the similarity between these opportunistic sadists.

  4. Imho, Republicans are not against "old age" but (as usual) want to make that "old age" as expensive as possible; drugs, treatments, support systems.

Scientific discovery/treatments that "cures" are to be discouraged while maintenance (drugs, treatments, etc.) are overpriced.

    Follow the money!

  5. Would it be consistent with what you are suggesting that he believes “living while weak” should be a privilege only of the rich who can afford private health care and that the working poor cease to be of worth to him when they cannot work?

  6. Are we sure the brain worm died? I feel like the FDA has talking a very platyhelminthecentric direction of late. Maybe RFK is the... Solium Candidate!

If so, you really have to hand it to the worms (although they would probably find the phrase offensive).

  7. You're hitting the nail on the head - it's not just about science, it's about who gets to live and who gets left behind. That Mengele comparison is chilling, and it's a stark reminder that some people's ideology is rooted in a twisted desire to control who's worthy of life.

  8. This is all part of the reason they put Trump in power. He’s one big distraction that sucks all the air out of the room, while people like RFK dismantle important institutions in the background

  9. RFK Jr is a sick person himself. Just waiting for the effects of the drugs he took, and him swimming in fecal water welcomes a visit with the Reaper.

Until then, can't wait for the lawsuits.

  11. This is the same panel that would recommend that he be ousted from any government role because of the sickness, death, and incredible expense that he will directly inflict upon the US population.

    As predators do.

  13. My read is that his view is based on the idea that illness, like all bad things, generally only happens to people who deserve it due to their choices. Good health is entirely meritocrac and not subject to the chaos of an unfair universe. This view is fairly common on the right in many arenas.

  15. I try not to be rude, but RFKjr and his gang have to be removed from office, or we are fucked. Not down the road - now. What these unqualified, incompetents are doing will kill people.

  16. Just received an email from Dr. Oz—I’m a Medicare recipient—basically telling me to get off my ass and get healthy. Drugs aren’t the answer. Honestly, after having to read that email, certain drugs are indeed the answer.

  17. We are all sick or potentially sick. That is why we have vaccines and medications and preventative care and screening tests. We are lucky to live in a time when these exist. Taking them away is careless and cruel.

  18. I mean, in fairness he's a Kennedy, I can at least see where he got the idea that only the lucky survive into old age.

I'm not saying he's right, I'm just saying I get where he got the idea from.

  19. Now you will truly not be able to believe health officials in the US.. but thankfully our friends in EU and CAnada use science and not conspiracy. So will be using those resources and guidance going forward.

  20. Nothing new here. The tribal religion of Republican anti science has been around a long time. Whether it's global warming, EVs, or vaccines, Republicans will fight science to the death. The only real difference I see is that they now have an official shaman.

  21. Republicans are waging a civil war against the people of this country. No generalizing about it. Remember before the election & the heritage foundation mfer said they were already at war & “it’ll be bloodless, if the left allows it”.

  23. For whatever reasons, Trump appointed members of his Cabinet who were mission-hostile to their Departments, none more so than Kennedy.

Even stupid people think their actions have a purpose. What did Trump think his was with this appointment?

  25. Unfortunately, this appears to be an entirely correct conclusion. The truth is, all of us should have seen it months ago but no one wanted to admit a truth this appalling. But it also explains so many of the moves that this admin has taken. It is exactly as stated: culling the weak.

  27. They will roll back recommended screenings. I'm doing so, insurance won't have to pay. If you pay out of pocket, debt incurs, hits credit report, then your denied housing, then your homeless and now that is subjected to locking people up and that equals free labor at for profit prisons.

  28. They are systematically destroying any good functioning part of the government. It’s better that we live in ignorance of pandemics, worsening weather, air travel safety, pollution control, all regulatory issues. Healthcare

  29. Yes, they want to Make America Healthy Again by letting the unhealthy die. It is the ultimate death panel

  30. Republicans/GOP know exactly what use RFK has for their desired outcome, the death of the old & ill. Ya know, what Palin accused the Democrats of yrs. ago “Death panels” but done in a sneakier fashion. Less health insurance, few hospitals in rural areas & no vaccines available through health insurance

  33. And by lucky, they mean rich. The wealthy can get actual treatment, while the poor can shovel all of their money into unregulated "cures" before dying and making room for fresh workers.

I know they didn't end it. But getting the ball rolling is nice... But I got to say fu_k donald and RFK, Vance, Patel, Noem

  36. RFKjr is one of many different prongs of attack on society that will cause irreparable harm. Not generational harm, irreparable harm.

Civilization is dealing with an existential threat.

  37. At its core I think this is all death anxiety - if medical interventions like cancer screening, rather than say good diet, lifestyle, and exercise are the solution to health, than the world is an unfair place where people die randomly for reasons beyond their control.

    1
  38. Don't forget the money angle. If the insurers are not required to provide coverage for screenings then they can charge more for it. After, of course, spending money to scare you into all kinds of screening procedures.

  39. The government could save a lot of money if most people can't obtain preventative care, or only minimal care when injuries or disease strike. Graves are relatively cheap, and the survivors have proved their superiority and will be encouraged to breed.

  40. People often overlook that RFK Jr. is a recovering heroin addict undergoing testosterone replacement therapy and has a chronic neurological disorder. He isn’t in perfect health.

  41. The old, the sick, the poor.

These are the groups of people the GOP has waged a war against and tried to eliminate for literally DECADES.

They know EXACTLY what RFK Jr. is doing, and they're perfectly fine with it.

  45. At Harvard, RFK, Jr. was just another rich spoiled punk Heroin Dealer. Now, at Texas A&M, he's a Folk Hero. My dad sent my brother and I to A&M because he didn't want us to grow up to be a Donald Trump, or an RFK,Jr. But that was then...this is now. Gig 'Em Assholes.

  46. Oh sure, if he weren’t so wildly incompetent, I might almost believe this was some brilliantly subtle scheme to dismantle the ACA one mandate at a time. Im on the fence, credit malice or just good old-fashioned ineptitude 🧐

  48. Why is #RFKJr this way? EUGENICS, an ethos to identity/eliminate people who fall short of the human ideal.
