"Anything but what we've been trying for the last 30 years" isn't a plan. There's a lot that would fit that criteria. Give real solutions.
-
Okay. Go ahead. What's the solution?

I'm certainly not defending the status quo. But, I'm not sure what you think the solution is. I think we should just provide housing for people who need it. But building housing is not cheap. And the funding that helps lower income people is being cut. Not sure how that's Democrats fault. 2/2

We've eliminated most places for people who don't fit perfectly. Employers want perfect people only. Landlords won't rent to anyone with any blemish on their record. Some of the people living in their cars have full time jobs. But they can't get first, last and security deposit. 1/

So zero is the only place we can consider low? Where might we find that?

The worst single-day crime spree in modern Washington history, of course, took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Trump issued no order to the National Guard to intervene -- Mike Pence did -- and later pardoned the perpetrators.
Citing a nonexistent crime crisis, Trump plans to take over the Washington DC police and put troops in the streets of the nation's capital. Contrary to his claims, violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low. @katierogersnyt.bsky.social Campbell Robertson Chris Cameron www.nytimes.com/live/2025/08...

I managed a couple of properties for my mom the last couple of years. There was a constant drumbeat by the property management company to raise the rent. I regularly resisted. But I'm pretty sure most landlords don't. It's so ghoulish.

I run in the downtown area in my city. My route regularly takes me by significant encampments of unhoused people. I greet them like anyone else. And they respond similarly. Homeless people have extensive needs. Military occupation will not address any of those needs.
Why experts say some unhoused people are unfairly assumed to be dangerous
While high-profile incidents draw attention, they may create a false impression that homeless people are significantly more dangerous than others, experts say.
