I just did some rough math. If each seat equals 650 K people, then there would be 70 more congressional seats. And 8 of them would go to California. 4 to New York.

Maybe something like: the smallest state gets one then go up from there and wherever we land that’s where we land.

And, small states have probably grown less than bigger states meaning their influence becomes higher and higher. If we’re going to keep it at 435 seats in the house, we need a better way of portioning them.

I haven’t been wondering about the House. My grandpa used to regularly write letters to our congressman (the 80s). That used to mean something. Our population has grown so much that each representative has so many more constituents and therefore less time to get to know any of them individually.
