Yes, and it’s embarrassing when authorities earnestly pronounce that they’ve seized looted, when it’s painfully obvious that they’re fake. Then those fakes go directly into a public collection … or are quietly sealed into boxes and stored away, never seen again.

We found other copies of that ‘ancient glass portrait’ in three different museums in the U.S. and Europe, all obviously fakes. And we contacted the museums in question and presented the clear evidence of forgery, but never received responses. Ah, well …
I remember that glass portrait well. I think I found one offered through a jeweller too...
