I mean, someone's getting thrown out for this, might as well take some of the brass with them.

That's what I thought as well. In effect they are saying their hands have been tied and you need to ask Todd Blanche.
That would be fun! Though I think what the AUSA is really asking for here is not to be cited for contempt by refusing to answer a direct question put by the court.

I'm sure the lawyer that was told not to disclose the declination letter enjoys being a lawyer and is not going to sacrifice his whole career for Todd Blanche.
Survival instincts, I'm assuming.

Do they really think a judge will allow someone from outside the courtroom to dictate what a lawyer for one side or the other can or cannot say in court?
