  1. Once you’ve listened to a 10 year old cry as they face the impossible double bind of being happy and trans or being alive and in the closet, all before they’ve even learned algebra, then you see that anything short of radical and absolute trans rights is genocide

  2. The report only claims to measure those who voluntarily identify as transgender in the surveys they are sourcing

So there very well could be trans people who either A) were still questioning & put "not sure" at the time, which was grouped with "no"; or B) did not feel comfortable disclosing

  3. Other highlights:

"Three-quarters of people aged 13 and older who identify as transgender are under 35"

"One quarter of individuals who identify as transgender are between 13 and 17"

"Transgender men, transgender women, & nonbinary transgender people each account for one-third of [trans] adults"

  4. every time we go out into the world there is the possibly we'll be seen by a kid who knows they're trans but is scared to come out. they need to know they're not alone. this is why visibility matters.

there are so much more of us than we think. the numbers held steady across all 50 states, and all ethnicities.

more trans kids feel safer to come out than ever before.

we cannot and we will not fucking concede on having their chance at a happy, fulfilling future taken from them.

    it's that simple.
