  1. Finally they're making an OS that will simply blare an alarm klaxon and shout "hey everybody, I'm looking at gay porno!" without input from me. I've been asking to have my needs this way anticipated for years and I'm finally being heard

Microsoft's Windows lead has teased the future of Windows will be more ambient, pervasive, and multi-modal in the wake of AI, promoting voice as a primary input method for using your PC. www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/wi...

  2. This leads to all manner of contradictory nonsense. Many people, too many, simultaneously believe that "populism is real and evil" and also "but you HAVE to vote for the candidate who'll WIN!" even though they proudly support candidates who stand zero chance & are widely loathed by everyone else

  3. I get the feeling everyone who still invests heavily in electoralism as the defining political tool has ironically forgotten how elections work & are now so used to fishing candidates out of the flushing toilet of draining popularity that candidates don't register if they aren't circling the drain

An election is by definition a popularity contest. We've gone from already egregious confusions like "voting is just like public transit, but it's not just like getting married!" (voting isn't either of those things) to "electability doesn't matter!" for an electoral candidate three years early

  5. I'm literally only saying this because I'm seeing the start of political sentiments on wplace, I think due to the preponderance of Cascadia flags in the area, that suggest there's some kind of radical vision underneath it and I have yet to hear of any coherent proposal along these lines.

  6. This leaves it in a really awkward position of having no counter to the charge that Cascadia is a cover for the "Northwest Front" or the "Northwest Territorial Imperative" because a state defining itself by a bioregion is, sorry, a nonsense proposal.

  7. I don't mind the flags, as I said I actually like the design just from a visual standpoint, but the notion that they may represent something deeper than an affinity with the region has ime been criticized by the very people who seem the most committed to "Cascadia" as a theoretical state.
