I worked for awhile at the Department Of Justice, exclusively on child support cases. As a rule we did not care about the morality of a case just who was the biological or legal father or mother. Being regressive going back to labeling the child makes no sense.

Generally speaking - in impoverished areas it has often been the practice to "marry off" a daughter when a taker could be found, The wealthier people married off their daughters for political gains, usually accompanied by a dowry.
