  1. At that price Trump doesn't need tariffs to get Australians to buy US beef, he needs subsidies.

  2. And this is just the beginning. However, the starving MAGA masses will praise him for "owning the Libs" to the last breath they take.

  3. A story on NPR talked about all the places that are offering "buy-now-pay-later", including grocery stores. When you get behind in buying food, that's scary.

  4. The only way to get through Trump’s war on the poor is to talk to every old person in your communities and find out how your grandparents and their grandparents made it through the 1920’s and 30’s. Home made remedies work. Forever soups. Community barter systems. Bakers trade with mechanics. Do it.

  5. And Publix (a big supporter of tfg) is only too happy to go the extra mile to help put us under

  6. That's a pretty fancy-schmancy cut, and there are cheaper ways to enjoy that general quality of beef, namely buy the bone-in option and cut steaks yourself.

  7. Really, really glad that years ago we started buying half a cow from a local rancher. Organic and pasture raised.
Taste is outstanding. And cheaper than any low grade beef at the grocery store.

  8. I see there’s still good deals on kerosene lamps and manual water pumps…

    (and…scene)

might be funny if it wasn’t where they want to take us…

  9. Don't worry, soon the BLS data will show the price of beef falling like 1500%. I can hardly wait!

  10. Trump will soon send you a little dividend cheque to appease you because his tariffs are fueling inflation.

  11. $22/lb for NY strip?

With a quickness, America is heading back to depression era cuisine. Get ready for a lot of lunches with spam, liverwurst, and/or bologna.

  12. I can't afford to buy meats as often as I used to. If I buy them at all it is because they are reduced for quick sale.

  13. I have a coronary every time I go to the grocery store. My son is tired of the mood I’m in when I come out. We are going to affirmatively go anorexic cuz I am just not going anymore. I cannot. It is unbelievably demoralizing.

  14. Whoa! 😮 I’m in the PNW and I paid $8.45 for a package of 2 medium sized petite sirloins! Where was this at?

  15. There's only been minimal reporting on this (because ofc the old guard Dems don't want to talk about it anymore than Repubs), but there was already data a couple of months ago about people taking out cash loans & credit card debt⬆️

  16. People start keeping your pets at home.. I think people will start to eat the cats and dogs if these prices don’t stop skyrocketing ! 🫣

  17. No no no.. this can’t be right.. he said grocery bills are lower than with Joe.. he would never lie.. 😅

  18. People will simply stop buying meat, eggs, etc. & many businesses in those industries will fail, which means unemployment for the workers in those industries.

  19. A lot by of good recipes to help you make your meat stretch. been making two meals from one package of meat. Dried beans and rice are your friend. Save your leftovers and reuse them for stew or a casserole. Today I’ve got a leftover pork chop in the crockpot with pinto beans. You can do this

  20. To be fair ... Publix has always been high when it comes to groceries. That's why I pass by two Publix Supermarkets to shop elsewhere. They are just using Trump's tariffs as an excuse to raise prices beyond what they should have anyway..

  21. Farmers, meatpacking plants, etc., are going to go broke because nobody can afford to buy what they’re selling. Then, small businesses in the communities where those employees live will go broke because they won’t have any customers, and so on and so forth.

  22. As we've seen. When Klarna & similar service apps let you break your grocery costs into smaller monthly payments, you realize people are in trouble.

  23. In my case, I don't have to look far to see who did this to us. Half of my county voted Orange, and I despise them. MAGA couldn't do this without fucked up people voting for them in sufficient quantities. And we have sufficient quantities of stupid here in my county.

  24. Have rarely eaten meat for 10 years, if it's not on a very good special it does not go in the cart. I shop the ads.

  25. Or just going hungry. Mostly, people on assistance that is being cut by his doge and BBB or fixed incomes that are being diminished by his inflation. THE REAL PAIN IS COMING.

  26. While billionaires get richer and richer and the regime Grifts let’s see off the American people stealing our money and spending it on vacations for JD Vance

  27. I've started buying dry beans in bulk. I don't think we've seen the worst of it yet unfortunately. Beans and rice make a perfect protein.

  28. I have been saying this for months now! This cut use to cost $25 and I know because in buy a lot of stake in my household and it’s doubled in price thanks to what I can only assume is gouging because there’s not a shortage of cows or workers (yet), though I heard that’s changing fast…

  29. A year ago I could get a filet cooked perfectly at a steak house for 50

Thanks to trump its 45 for a NY strip at Publix

It’s not maga it’s MAWA - making America worse always

  30. He can lie about the tariffs all he wants, but once it starts to really hit people in their wallet, they’re going to know they’re paying more for groceries.

    2
  31. Thank God they have "buy now pay later" for groceries these days 😂 But seriously, the trade war is simply a class war. The more of your income that you spend on everyday goods and services the higher your effective tax rate. Real "party of the working class" stuff here.

  32. Thank God beef is proven to be unhealthy and contributes to heart disease. Makes it easier to not pay the outrageous prices.

  33. I hope they don't hate us...

"how many tons of beef were imported last year and please list the top five importing countries and what percentage they supplied. also supply the expected Trump tariffs from those countries. list in table format."

    About 18% of total consumption.

  34. Food is high here in Canada as it never fully recovered after covid, but this was/is the issue in many countries. Now that you have that cretin in the WH, it's gonna get worse for the US! Beef is expensive here too, won't buy it until it starts to come down. Eggs, I can get them for $4-$5 Canadian.

  35. vegetarian since 1986 I've no clue what cost was b4 the tangerine clown but $21.47/lb for rib eye at Walmart(!) in central wisconsin

prices on produce & dried beans(!) have gone up here too tbf, a lot of stuff is up in cost here now incl bread

  36. $22 a pound?... OMG it would take someone on minmum wage a 1/2 a days work just to afford half of this package of meat, and an entire day to buy the whole thing. 😱

    0
  37. It takes time for all of this to begin and work its way through the country. Prices are higher and will get worse. The hardest hit will be rural America which will be first. Trump takes away jobs, healthcare, and now makes it hard to put food on the table. He will try and blame someone else.

  38. And that's assuming the groceries don't just kill them as a result of gutting the various regulatory agencies and putting a mercury-poisoned brain-wormed talking gas station hot dog in charge of "Health."

  39. I noticed that my local grocery stores have started cutting Sirloin steak to look like strip steaks. Sirloin of course is cheaper than New York Strips so if you don’t read the label….🤷‍♀️

  40. And petty crime. Statistically, crime rates increase in response to increased inflation and unemployment rates. Trump's not deterring crime he is effectuating it.

  41. It's ridiculous to consider paying that price for a slab of muscle off a cow that was probably miserable most of its life. I might be able to see paying it if it were a very happy cow at the end of a very happy life... but this is America.

  42. Stop eating meat. It’s not good for you. It’s not good for the planet. And the production of meat is morally reprehensible. Beans and rice is basically the perfect meal.

  43. I lived dead broke and hungry most my life, anyone wants cooking tips on how to stretch what you have I'll be glad to have a think about the food you have on hand

  44. Yup. I haven't been buying any beef. That's for sure. I've been nibbling on a tuna casserole I made. It's definitely filling. $ 8.00 for a Lb. of 80 % ground beef. I ended up making chicken tacos instead. I'm not even sure what it's up to now.

  45. Time to discover vegetarian cooking. I was a vegetarian 40 years ago. I should be able to do it again. The problem is, my husband is a meat and potato man.

  46. Or ranchers will go out of business. I rarely eat beef, period, any more. Too expensive. I’m sure there are 1000s of others who also don’t buy it.

  47. Everything is higher...bread, eggs, meat, and produce. My coffee went up by 33% over two weeks. It is cheaper to stop by McDonald's and get two McChicken sandwiches for each. America will not be great or healthy again.
