Relying on official statistics to pretend action is being taken is making my point. Ignoring third country transhipment and refining is just whistling past the graveyard. hir.harvard.edu/the-black-go...
The Black Gold of the Black Market: Russia’s Lucrative (and Illegal) Oil Trades
"[U]nder enduring international pressure, an illegal market has emerged for routing petroleum from Russia into other countries."
-
Cities were created around trade which is inseparable from profit. People do not make trades which don't result in them being better off. My original point was only in regards to "large" cities. Urban settlements are vitaly important because of their role in trade.

The bar for the Peace Prize is pretty low. Obama got it because? Oh yeah, the Europeans were sick of Bush and liked what Obama was saying (not doing). Which also explains why Trump won't get it.
-
Yes, yes they should. So should the Americans, but that is a different issue. The Europeans should stop talking about inspecting shadow fleet tankers and start doing it. They should stop talking about not buying Ru oil and start doing it. They should stop with Ru gas as well.
-
Cities are not now, nor ever in history, randomly located. They have always been located on trade routes. Cities need a continuous supply of water, food, and resources, as well as taxing trade routes funded entire empires. The pretencious left doesn't read anywhere near as much as they think.

It's almost as if a grand jury won't indict a ham sandwhich if there isn't any evidence.

A fictional TV character is the correct analogy. Trump isn't engaging in real criminal racketeering, he is engaging in a theatrical facsimile of racketeering. They type you learn from TV, rather than the school of hard knocks.

China exploited Moscow's desperation to extract extortionist terms on the "Power of Siberia" pipeline. China is extracting extoritionist forestry rights from Moscow in Siberia. Coal mining is the same. I see no evidence that China is willing to help Russia in any meaningful way.
-
There are more deposits outside of China than inside. Those mines closed down because China used predatory pricing to shut them down.
