Speed ups for searching through a document have their utility. Reading, skimming, ctrl+f; plenty of ways to spend only cursory amount of time with a document besides an LLM, so in that sense (hallucinations aside) it's not new. But.
Inefficiency is load-bearing. Doing the work is load-bearing. Even ctrl+f-ing my through a document, I will stumble across other important passages.
The problem with LLMs right now is that they are buggy. The problem with LLMs in the future is that they will deliver exactly what you want.
