Here's the letter that NSF sent UCLA last week about cutting its research funding
NSF says UCLA is doing affirmative action by asking applicants' their zip codes, family income and what HS they went to, and that they can discuss race in personal statements

In both cases the letters refer to "Termination and Enforcement," which lays of guidelines for suspension and termination.
For reference, the NSF letter for UCLA's suspensions is on the left, while the letter for Harvard's terminations is on the right.

Inefficiency is load-bearing. Doing the work is load-bearing. Even ctrl+f-ing my through a document, I will stumble across other important passages.
The problem with LLMs right now is that they are buggy. The problem with LLMs in the future is that they will deliver exactly what you want.
Speed ups for searching through a document have their utility. Reading, skimming, ctrl+f; plenty of ways to spend only cursory amount of time with a document besides an LLM, so in that sense (hallucinations aside) it's not new. But.
imo the biggest genuine productivity enhancer for LLMs is having them search shit that you provide to them. you can mitigate the hallucination issue by having it tell you where on the 500 page pdf to look to check them, and it's a much better interface than ctrl F.

Move follows Trump administration finding that school didn’t effectively combat antisemitism
Yoking the ghost of his dead son to him is both unnecessary and, IMO, callous to him. His views on antisemitism and campus protests are sufficient context for the reader. Personal trauma has its place and that is not a short news story about a policy of mass grant suspensions.
