Yes, multiple cultures, including the Europeans, kept slaves. They were generally captives of war. It wasn't an intergenerational life sentence done with one motive in mind: profit.

I posted this before and I will do so again. Slavery in America was not a “2% problem.” It was the economic engine and legal backbone of the nation, upheld by the other 98%. Minimizing that is not truth telling. It is whitewashing history for political ends.

I would probably be better off if I spent my time trolling people, but I don't. I spend my time trying to figure out how to say things that need to be said in ways that are useful and illuminating. From there, I have faith that good people will recognize good work and support it. Thanks!
