  1. Socialism never works....solely because every time it has ever been attempted in the modern world, the United States has done literally everything in its power to make sure socialism fails. If it didn't work by itself, the US wouldn't need to coup every country that attempts it.

  2. Socialism worked everywhere it was tried for everyone except for parasites that exploit people.

Unless your idea of "working" is everybody slaving their whole lives away to produce useless junk, extreme inequality, endless war, intentional poverty, and wiping out life on earth for profit

  3. I know you've probably been blasted with this multiple times already but social democracies aren't socialist. They're capitalist band-aid systems that thrive off of selling weapons and raping the global south. Still very much evil systems with most of the inherent flaws of capitalism.

  4. How can Americans ask "where has socialism ever worked" when all but a very few self evidently have no fucking clue what socialism is or means? The USA collectively is a ship of ignorant fools wantonly steering itself into the approaching sinkhole.

  5. He should not be attacked for admitting what his political ideology is. To me, it's regional. If what he's putting forward works in NY, then that's GREAT. Please keep in mind, that here in STUPID TX Dems have to nominate a different kind of candidate. We all just want to WIN! Edge out MAGA! JOB #1!

  6. "Social democracy" = the social welfare state & exists ONLY under capitalism.

It is the polar opposite of socialism (which is democratic by definition).

Socialism = the citizens/workers/community own & distribute resources & services democratically.

No European country is socialist; they are

  7. The wealthy in this nation PROVE socialism not only works, but is highly preferable. The wealthy thrive on handouts and benefits of socialism while we are forced to endure under capitalism. Capitalism does not work. Period.

  8. lots of debates on dem socialism versus social democracy, but also it can be seen as all the same fight and some do grasp this. Because removing things out of the market IS socialism. Even if it's "just" oh let's say healthcare or housing or the f-in post office even if that long predates it

  9. Not to knit-pick, but social democracy it’s not the same as socialism. In essence, socialism is anti-capitalist, it seeks to overturn the capitalist social relations. We came up with social democracy to save and preserve capitalism through redistribution.

  10. Conservative rhetoricians and propagandists have a field day with the word "socialism," which because humans' are social animals, live in societies, naturally has many interpretations (including what conservatives do whenever they talk about what's best for America, for everyone, for society).

  11. Just look north to Canada. It's a good mix of capitalism and socialism. Look at life expectancy , gun deaths, overall quality of life ....The argument is over so MAGA Insurrectionist Republicans have to steal elections now since they lost the argument. Wake up People it's war to quote the NY Gov.

  12. Socialism focuses on the common good and promotes an equitable society. Americans were born and bred on competition & self promotion. Our empty lives & self hatred has no room for that. 😆

  13. the US already has elements of socialist policies in place, such as Social Security, Medicare, public utilities, libraries, emergency services, government regulation, public ownership, public education systems, and government-funded infrastructure like roads.

  14. Tired of the conflation of socialism with Marxism. These countries have successfully merged well-regulated capitalism with socialism to strive for the best outcome for the broadest segment of the population. Their systems have faults, but they are clearly doing a better job than we are.

  15. Also consider the metric for working… and then calculate the money spent on attempting to run the prominent ones off the rails… show me capitalism without militarism….

  16. Do any of them have 340 million people spread across an equivalent land mass?

“Socialism” is not “democratic socialism”. Rather than focus concern on what label gets attached, it’s the policies & ability to reach common goals that matters.

The most important question “who has power to do what?”

  17. I desperately want to live in a society that takes care of its citizens. Reinvests in its infrastructure and people. Puts the future in focus in a purposeful way.

So tired of the self serving interests and capitalistic competition.

  18. I have lived in 4 countries. Canada, Italy & Germany all had better standards of living &/or happier citizens.

The main differences seem to be a better social safety net & they work to live - vs. most Americans, who seem to live to work.

  19. Its interesting how he is seen as a radical. What the hell is this President? Everything he has done is radical, and nothing has worked either because it is bad policy, or he can't even implement it properly with all the "Greatest People" he says he hired.

  20. What does "worked" mean in this context anyway?

Rates of homelessness? The amount of free time people have? Healthcare?

Or does it mean GDP performance?

  21. It's worth noting that Mamdani can't carve out a socialist economy in the middle of a capitalist one. He is a socialist, but all he can implement is social democracy.

  22. My questions for those folks begin with: Have you ever dialed 911? If you have kids, did they go to a public school? Did they ride the bus to get there? Have you ever needed the fire dept? If you answered yes to any of those questions, guess what, you're a democratic socialist!! Bravo!!

  23. All these clueless MAGAtard fascists think "socialist" only means Cuba, Venezuela and the USSR. They know nothing about DEMOCRATIC socialist countries who consistently offer the highest quality of life for most of their citizens. FAUX News of course will never educate them - only indoctrinate them!

  24. We are a social democracy. Public schools, fire Departments, police departments, public works departments, public libraries etc. etc. It is called a mixed economy.

  25. UK has had the National Health System since 1948. Very successful. BUT when the rich get their hands on a health system, they want to privatise it. It’s merely $$$$$$$ to them. They are not helping you at all.

  26. A long-time member of the Dem party, always thought we were socialists. Think SS, ACA, Medicare, Medicaid, voting rights. Of course, Dems didn't say it out loud bcuz most people confuse socialism w/ communism. Did not want to scare voters off. It is time to get behind people like Mamdani.

  27. Read anyone saying “socialism doesn’t work“ as, “how am I supposed to make billions of dollars? “ just like getting better energy from the environment sources, there’s always some guy with his palm out wondering how it’s gonna cheat him out of money.

  28. MAGAs are too ignorant to even understand the difference btwn Communism, Socialism & Dem Socialism. I'll take Dem Socialism that takes care of it's citizens any day over straight capitalism which only helps the richest.
