  1. Centrists should understand progressives aren’t going away, nor will all be convinced of the errors of their ways.

The anti-fascist common front needs each wing to tolerate the other.

  2. Apparently renters are like the Darth Vader of city dwellers

The evidence for a “dark side” of the ADU boom cited in this misleadingly-headlined article:

    • A San Diego Association of Governments report that found that 85% of ADUs are occupied by renters.

    • A UCLA capstone that found that ADU tenants are paying market rate rents for their newly-built homes.

Experts are divided: is any new development in California's housing crisis welcome, or are certain types of housing more needed?

  3. Unanswered question: What did Maxwell offer up as her side of the bargain? This is unprecedented, lenient treatment of a sex offender serving a 20 year sentence. Her side of the deal must have been highly valuable—someone really wanted whatever she offered.

  4. Covering this attack would not help Trump rule over us so they don't cover it. They like Trump and want to help him

this is getting almost no coverage from big newspapers. this chilling update is invisible on the homepages of the NYT and WaPo. A clear attack on science, aggravated by an anti-science WH and its officials.

I get that he wasn't rude to a GOP official at a restaurant, but where is the outrage?

  5. The radical leftists [at the American Enterprise Institute] think Antoni is a hack.

    www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Some economists, including Stan Veuger, a senior fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, described Antoni as unfit for the position.
"He's utterly unqualified and as partisan as it gets," Veuger said.

Let's focus on qualifications: Antoni finished grad school 5 years ago at Northern Illinois with no distinction. Dissertation: No focus on labor or data collection. Zero publications. One lifetime citation (by a former colleague).

This record would not earn you a job as junior economist at BLS.

  6. When teachers can't afford housing, the response should be to fix the broken market, not try and fix things for only one category

Have a ton of thoughts as a YIMBY who’s also a teacher:

    1. I don’t want my housing attached to my job
    2. Teachers aren’t “worthier” than a delivery worker/secretary
    3. Teachers are median wage earners and when they can’t afford market homes, it’s the canary in the coal mine for your housing market!
