  1. Okay, my 101-year-old grandfather is really enjoying the responses he’s gotten here, so I’ve finally convinced him to let me share something he’s been working on for years; a series of sculptures he calls “Trumpinnochios.”

Here’s one of his best. I’ll share a few more in this thread.

A picture of a sculpture. A wooden carving of Trump with a long red tie stands atop a miniature skyscraper labeled Trump Tower. He is holding a mini Statute of Liberty in one hand and a large American flag in the other. The flag has “January 6, 2021” written on it. Three miniature fighter planes are circling the figure, a la King Kong. At the base of the tower are multiple sheep figures looking up at him, all wearing red hats. On his leg is another sheep, with a label saying “It’s me, JD” written on it.A zoomed in picture of the top of the tower, showing all the details.

Another observation from my 101-year-old grandfather, since he's tickled pink that people enjoy his points of view. He says he listened to Father Coughlin's radio show back in his youth and that nothing reminds him of that infamous antisemite and bigot as Tucker Carlson's commentary today.

  2. My grandfather also wants to pass along the message that RFK Jr. is destroying one of the prime achievements of American medicine. This is something he knows well, given the decades of his life he dedicated to medicine, to the scientific pursuits, and to helping research new treatments for diseases.

My grandfather is 101. He was a doctor and researcher for generations. In his life he’s seen near-miracles of medical science come to fruition. To this day he reads Nature and Science and keeps up with the latest discoveries.

He tells me he is deeply worried about public health.

  3. The brilliant revolutionary George Jackson was assassinated in prison today in 1971, allegedly during an attempted escape, but as James Baldwin said, “no Black person will ever believe that George died the way they tell us he did.”

Photo of George Jackson with the text "Do what must be done, discover your humanity and your love in revolution."

  4. Nancy Mace: "In my time in Congress, I actually helped secure the largest infrastructure grant in state history, in South Carolina history. So I've worked very hard on the policies that matter to voters here."

(Mace is taking credit for legislation she voted against!)

  5. How I yearn for the day when all that gold crap is removed, along with the guy who put it there. The stain, on the other hand, will never fully wash away.

Like you I've seen all the pics people post here abt the steady increase of tacky gold crap he keeps adding to the oval office. But somehow it wasn't until I saw this picture that it just hit me. What the actual fuck. Like a Vegas whorehouse.
