living in DC right now means chatting with your general contractor who interrupts the conversation to take a call about ICE spotted near a work site, and him going over safety protocols to protect his staff from detention and deportation
there are cops every two or three blocks on H St. daycare workers won't take kids outside and contractors are afraid to use their vans. helicopters are constant. the soldiers with guns at metro stations are there seemingly to remind you that you can't do anything about it
