Late born neurons from each lineage form trajectories, with consecutively born neuron types arranged by birth order. By aligning 83 such trajectories, we directly compared how expression dynamics unfold across lineages. 5/8
Amazingly, we found a common transcription factor code across all lineages. Each neuron selects a stable subset of 17 shared TFs based on birth order. This defines a transcriptional ‘timestamp’ that persists into adulthood. The same code is used in the central brain. 6/8
