    this is unfortunately one of the symptoms of an under-resourced media ecosystem. it's exceedingly rare to have fact-checkers these days, but even having a copy desk (or editor who checks the names of people mentioned) could have helped catch these fabrications pressgazette.co.uk/publishers/d...

  4. Con organizers thanked them for it (with permission) during opening ceremony, and there was a "thank you, wish we could have seen you this year" card passed around for signatures and sent on.

    My point is, it CAN be done safely. If the organizers and the attendees have the will to do it.

  5. The one con I still attend requires in-person masking (and proof of a recent negative test at registration badge pickup), & has big air purifiers in every room. The first year of this, a beloved community member found out about an exposure the day before; they reported it and stayed home.
