I think an underrated benefit of monarchy specifically is that counterparties have a pretty good idea who’s going to be in charge in ten, twenty, and thirty years.
obviously this isn’t the only or most important thing but even in the Good Case America is going to feel its lack for years to come
literally any system in which you know who is in charge upon a transition of government is better than any government where that issue must be settled by violence. "not having a civil war every 30 years" is just an incredibly powerful technology.

Gets to the heart of something I wonder about often; from a functional perspective, why did absolute monarchy, a system which makes itself hostage to the lottery of birth, endure for so long?

hamas did not fortify gaza. hamas did not sequester aid. hamas made no attempt to lessen the blow it brought down on the civilians for whom it was notionally the government. instead they declared Palestine a "nation of martyrs" and hid with their captives while the people under their care died.
Hamas's survival has little to do with the courage and resourcefulness of its members (most of those who joined pre-10/7 being dead for months) and the nature of counter-insurgency

He's right. His entire administration venerates the Confederacy and everything it stands for.
I look forward to another Reconstruction when we can honor Reconstruction 1.0 by melting Confederate statues into slag.
