  1. Such a good phrase.

She goes on to describe something even worse

  2. There has been a kind of weird phenomenon watching Richard Hanania and James Effing Lindsay look at the people in their comments and ask WTF is wrong with these people.

  3. one of the weird things is i am extremely used to nazis and i am extremely used to their nazism Becoming A Problem. twitter is unique in that all of your interactions have no visible consequences so you can apparently just get used to stewing in it

  4. a lot of these people have convinced themselves that Hanania specifically is representative of a large constituency and must be a priority for winning over

  5. Everyone who argues for the necessity of staying on Twitter should watch the 1981 movie "Mephisto," and pay special attention to the part where the actor who is cooperating with the Nazis screams "I need the German language!"

  6. The excuses to stay on Twitter depend on a critical mass of Twitter users who might have their opinion swayed. I.e. not bots, troll farms, or committed racists. If they all came to the good place ... Twitter could just be a nazi dead internet and we'd all be better for it.

  7. That piece was delusional

I left not because of random acts of racism spewed by a few folks, but for being inundated by racist BOT accounts

Whatever claim Twitter once had to being the internet's "town square" ended in the summer of 2016 and became an absolute cesspool once Elon took the helm

  8. I mean…there are definitely spaces on the internet to shit talk for fun, if that’s what you want. And there are some people who sometimes want it. But what’s wrong with people not wanting that? This is a diversion for most people.

  9. Counterpoint to the article author: if “a few N-words” don’t “get you down” then that’s a you problem, not a platform problem.

  10. As a white, straight ally of the oppressed, I often say "You can't let a few X-words get you down."

    • don't say that. this is sarcasm. don't go to nazi bars, but please call the health inspector.

  11. You misspelled “opportunist” as “leftist”.

But you’re absolutely right about their state of moral discernment.

Which is to say, they have none whatsoever.

    Having ethics is cringe, apparently.

  12. Also she is going to use all this to write a column next week about how mean Bluesky is, even when she acknowledges there are Nazis being boosted on twitter
