the distribution is likely base e because of the exponential distribution of density based on height, but the scattering coefficients are just numbers, unrelated to any choice of attenuation etc.

sweating nervously flipping through papers trying to figure out if this slide actually means 5.8e^(-6) or if they meant 5.810^(-6)
