Why, you might ask, do the BBC and Sky News, casting their editorial guidelines to the wind, keep giving massive airtime to the far right, while shutting out leftwing voices? Don't their bosses understand the likely consequences? Only one explanation now remains. They do. And it is what they want.

BBC World service is still good. They still give a voice to marginalised people, and not much to the ugliness of UK politics
-
Same in the US where the mainstream media (broadcast, print) is owned by right-wing billionaires & private equity. Since 2015, Trump's fascist backers have received the vast majority of news "coverage" (free airtime & headlines), most of it "neutral" (sympathetic). The rich fucks WANT all of this.
-
A right wing propaganda machine and ceased to be subtle about it years ago.
-
I wish the Green Party would shout louder.
-
I was wondering this myself the other day.
-
Anyone that is not calling out the coup is complicit.

Fossil money is a bottomless pit
-
Yesterday Trump threatened to cancel FCC licenses for ABC and NBC, the two largest media outlets in the US.
Pussyfooting didn't do them any good. -
The msm controllers are all right wing sympathisers.
-
Labour want this, as Reform peels voters off the Conservatives, splitting the vote on the right. The calculation is that this helps Labour to victory next election.
-
They don't give airtime to the disaster that Reform are where they are in control of Councils. youtu.be/dwdei_IDp3g?...
-
Giving airtime to hate but ignoring the debacle in the Reform-led Councils, leaving that to local press and YouTube😡 youtu.be/-AvLM7rUfq8?...
-
They want a fascist government, and polls suggest they will get one after the next election.
-
Dude! Sky news is owned by Fox's Rupert Murdoch. THAT'S why.
-
Ditto with the majority of "news" organizations in the U.S.
It's infuriating, but nevertheless true, and is all the more reason why I'll never give ANY of them a dime going forward.
-
Look at our lame stream media
Impudent
-
Need an emergency purdah on political broadcast as per election period to ensure equal voices across parties
-
By whom and how do you see this being controlled, George?
-
Uuummm, have they not been paying attention to the US after the news outlets did the same? Oh, that's right, their owners are uber-wealthy, white, and male as are their US counterparts.
-
The relentless decline of Labour and the relentless rise of Reform must be an entirely organic phenomenon.
-
For the Sweet Gods sakes, do NOT be like we in the US!
-
In the Netherlands the bosses of public networks are suffering from left-wing phobia and to such an extent that they produce talkshows with right wing politicians while actors, singers, soccerplayers act as competent commentators on climate issues as global warming (hoax!), migrants (freeloaders!).
-
It's for the clicks and views - the business model. It's how we got Trump in the US. The press rolled over for profit
-
Does BBC do this also? That’s disappointing. Still reeling from the defunding of PBS.
-
-
The Press did the same here🇺🇸 and look who got re-elected🤨
-
Truly frightening times. I fear for my children 😨
-
Do we now need an independent progressive TV news & current affairs channel to counter all of the hate? Can someone set one up?
-
Almost like FOX NOT EVEN ENTERTAINMENT in the States
-
The parallels to Trump and our media are uncanny. The 1% who run this planet seem to have chosen fascism.
-
The Elite have chose Fascism. The illusion of choice is gone. The curtain is pulled back.
-
I don't watch them, never did. Worst way to get information. ATM they are always a few days after the fact.
-
I used to work for the BBC and left literally because of their scummy practices and excessive mismanagement of money. Also, the fact they are threatening people on their doorstep for a TV liscence fee when they can't even afford food, they can suck eggs.
-
Bingo
-
They aren’t alone - if you ever have the misfortune to listen to LBC radio between 7 and 10 it should be properly titled the Nigel Farage show.
-
The only rigour you'll ever see from the BBC is from their complaints deparrment patronisingly insisting that they are always balanced and fair.
Trojan Horses delivering fascism straight into our living rooms.
-
Yes.
-
I’ve been a longtime supporter of the BBC as we need some balance
But sadly BBC now controlled by ex Tory politicians and right wing mutters!
So until there is big change at the top. BBC will be a reform propaganda outlet
-
Going to take an educated guess that they’re owned by billionaires…
-
It’s time to make the broadcast of the news a non-profit endeavor, along with healthcare and politics.
-
Murdoch has worked out that unstable government is what makes News and that makes him money. Extremely strict guidelines for media ownership is essential for all nations
-
I have a totally bonkers parallel conspiracy that Steve Bannon is in fact a dyed in the wool Marxist - betting that the only way to establish a lasting working class revolution is to push populist fachos as hard as possible.
-
Look at the body charged with overseeing BBC content - packed with right wing politicians.
We should therefore not be surprised when they transfer their prejudices to BBC programming. -
It’s good for profit. Late stage capitalism at its finest.
-
Reading too much into it. They're indifferent to the consequences. Clicks are the one and only goal.
-
I have withdrawn from the BBC too because their bias is undeniable. My only niggle is that that was of course their intention all along. For people to give up on our public broadcaster.
-
Long realised that. Don't watch them.
-
You know it isn't as nefarious as you state George; fascists get ratings. Outrageous gets ratings. Both these organizations desperately need ratings. The lack of basic charisma from the left is the problem as Zohran in NY demonstrates; if you have a star people will listen.
-
If course it's obvious and has been for many moons. Fortunately their influence has declined and most younger voters treat them with disdain!
-
Money trumps integrity
-
I think it's Skys plan. The tory Run BBC has to try to find balance. They are more afraid of being accused of keeping them off than putting them on. Also thinking of a future government who could take away their budget.
-
$$$$$
-
Theyre companies
-
Life is hard; then ya die. Welcome to fake democracy and her ugly twin sister, fake news.
-
It's exactly what they want.
-
Not that i watched the BeeB in a very long time, but why else would they have GBNews lackeys stuffed in there to the gills?
The far-right would want that top spot, The first channel on the box is 001, that means they win the propaganda war. Fabricating consent to sell it off may be the objective.
-
Boycott. The. Advertisers.
Money talks, bullshit walks.
The most effective way we have to fight fascism? Choke off the money pipeline!
It's our money, we don't have to give it to people who want to fuck us over!
We can use dollars instead of bullets. It's time for us to get smart and get busy.
-
🎵They're only making plans for Nigel. They only want what's best for him.🎶

Putin and the oligarchy will not rest until the entire world is under their control.

And yet when the main issue of the day is climate and wildfires they don't feel it appropriate to interview The Green Party...

Already the State broadcaster. Gibb, Davie and McAndrew made it so.

They are only interested in eyes and clicks. They know rage bating is the best for this. They are entertainment centred, not news.
-
Oh, the horror.
-
When their boos is an ex-Tory activist, what do we expect?
The Johnson and Lettuce regimes kept trying to plant Tories into public media bodies for this very reason.
-
They're goose stepping to many of the same atrocities. When they cut heating assistance to pensioners it was chilling with not much push back, they too are making heavy cuts to the working class and trying to wreck farming. Surprised Starmer has lasted this long after the speedy exits of the last 2.

Revolt-ing
-
Fascists being fascists
-
I was shocked today that the first item on Greatest Hits Radio bulletin wasn't small boats/hotels/Farage/Labour screwing up. Took a school shooting and the price of weight loss drugs to knock them off. They even mentioned Ed Davey's boycott.
-
All news media trades in creating division. They claim to be reporting and reflecting society, but in reality they are steering the narrative.
-
Yes. Sky is a major weapon of the right. Here in Australia too.
-
This is true for the ABC in Australia too.
-
I'd agree. There is a definite agenda.
-
Happened and ongoing here in the US, to disastrous consequence. I'm assuming they are likely owned or controlled by the same billionaire buddies. What a world. Hate and power are now one and the same. See what money gets you?
-
🤬
-
Because it’s been decided for you who you will be voting for. Take a look at America. That’s what is planned for you. A revolting grifting Temu Trump stoking hatred for the gain of a few and the misery of millions. All whilst the few take your pensions and children’s future. Think fucking hard on it
-
We know the consequences already: #Brexit
-
It's certainly what the Tory placemen want. A lot worked for Murdoch a lot work for right wing lobby groups
-
What is Lisa Nandy doing about this?
-
Not true. Empirical data suggests the BBC tends to favour Centre-Right (Tory) voices over those from the left.
Sky News is seen as largely impartial, “possibly even slightly left-leaning in some analyses.

Interesting that the journalists involved are willing participants in their own extinction.
The right are committed. I’ll give them that.
-
Your question has the answer, it is in "bosses". The BBC's "bosses" should be the Public.
-
-
They do Absolutely what they want, as I've said elsewhere, the BBC desperately miss the Tories and as they're virtually unelectable they have Reform as a surrogate. Their latest dogwhistle is how they keep mentioning that the school shooter in the US 'identifies as a woman', completely unnecessary.
-
I’ve written to complain, asking for a response. It’ll be interesting to see their rationale. If they give one.
-
In an age of oligarch-owned, rabidly manipulative media, we in the UK had the antidote ready in a the form of a powerful, independent, but state-funded media organisation.
We cocked that up, didn't we?
-
Whom the gods want to destroy they first drive mad.
-
Oh, they absolutely understand the consequences.
People need to remember that in the UK, all but the BBC is owned by billionaires. The BBC, while state owned, is essentially a state apparatus (Scots had experience of this during the 2014 indy ref, the BBC acknowledged it was biased in 2015) and...
-
It’s called FACISM! Plain and simple. They’re TERRIFIED of Cheeto so they become another arm of the REGIME. It’s sickening!
-
I’ve never argued against the license fee - but I am now. The idea that I’m funding this unremitting political propaganda campaign is appalling.
-
GMB are doing their fair share!
-
That was the reality here.
-
I expect that from the BBS. I'm shocked and pleasantly surprised when they lean anywhere near the center and more to the left.
-
Their bosses 100% understand, and 100% approve. This is the same playbook that other media oligarchs have been playing in the US since 2015. This is a coordinated, multi-pronged, and very sophisticated effort on their part.
I wish you luck in stopping it before fascism takes over there, too.
-
The BBC is extremely biased.
-
The Daily Mail was owned by Rothermere, who was a notorious supporter of Nazis. And, it seems ATM, too many others are following his ideological preferences, including the Daily Mail again...👇🤨
-
the answer to everything is already out there... when you ask the right questions.
the quicker we understand this is intentional (not rational), we can move on to asking: how the FUCK do we stop these assholes.
-
My guess? The far right have given them their marching orders
Put out anything against us and we’ll shut you down
-
I don’t think they are as farsighted as you suggest. The extreme rhetoric of the right grabs attention and requires little explanation. More considered political thought, however, requires effort and reflection. Harder to sell. But, for sure, the BBC has become a massive disappointment
-
Over here in the US, there was an obvious reorganization of newsroom directors, reporters, etc, after Biden got elected in 2020. This was an attempt to appeal to conservatives and increase viewership. You see what happened. The media turned more conservative, and Trump got re-elected.
-
Those Nazis in the BBC are never going to get a penny from me. If they offered me a free TV Licence, I'd refuse it, so that the BBC gets nothing on my behalf.
-
Would you like to see how a real journalist handles Farage? bsky.app/profile/rufu...
-
There's also a media obsession with sensation. No one on the left, certainly not the Greens, say anything to cause outrage. Most of us want to be governed well, and most want to be entertained. Hardly any see that these two things conflict. Decent politics just doesn't make attention-grabbing news.
-
And emphasises how utterly inconsequential Ofcom is.
-
BBC Scotland is just as bad as well as being generally anti-devolution and downright hostile to the SNP.
-
The US Media has been doing that forever, and look where we are now. YELLOW JOURNALISM
-
Indeed. It may have been possible to give them the benefit of the doubt some years ago, but no longer. They have been warned repeatedly about it, even if they weren't able to see it for themselves. The only conclusion at this stage is that it is all deliberate.
-
BBC ♥️ Farage
-
I didn’t have much time for the ‘defund the BBC’ lot, but now I’m not so sure.
Its non-news output is no better than other channels these days - its programme development is stale and predictable. Its best output lies largely in music radio.
If its news operation can’t be turned around, then….?
-
The threat to the Free Press is real. A dictator can and will control the press. Free Speech and Truth are at stake, dictator Trump has them in his sights!
Be scared 😮
-
Maybe the overton window has shifted and you haven't? BBC is more likely keeping a lid on public discontent, not fuelling it.
-
100%, I too have written about this but not so eloquently as yourself several times.
-
the voices on the left need to be louder, then. It's the People's government, not the 'bosses'
-
Well done George, you got there in the end. State propaganda has platformed a fascist for 20+ years. Now it’s platforming the fascist’s pretendy political party to the exclusion of others. Is state propaganda merely platforming the preferred politics of the british state, fascism.
-
Yep. That’s it.
-
Inured to the immediate effects of violent disorder, upper class people think they can weather it for however long it takes for the pendulum to swing the other way. All entertainment from up on the deck -- surely the whole ship can't sink!
-
They go for sensationalism. The far right is far too exciting than broadcasting the truth. Farage will get in and we will all be stuffed.
-
It’s like that in Canada now since Harper injected the CBC with his cynical pro-bigot both-sidzing everything, giving all the oxygen to Pierre Poilivere when nobody asked for him. Nobody trusts him. And the media is all ‘tariffs tariffs tariffs’ to avoid mentioning that Trump is going to invade us!
-
Must be the same reason American media won’t show how awful Shitler is here! Probably same owners or of the same ilk
-
And Lisa Nandy does nothing to tackle far-right bias with the BBC management. Hopeless.
-
Part of the reason is because even the centrists and centre left join in!
#LBC James O'Brien, Ben Kentish, Lewis Goodall are talking immigration issues every other day.
Only way to deal with Farage & immigration issues, (facts dont work), is to switch off, or block, all those pushing these issues!
-
Sky News has been crap for quite a while now. I remember how they reported during the Clownvoy in Canada.
-
Why are they doing this, fear? ratings? The perception of balance? They've gone reform bonkers.
-
Because it comes from your good self, my folks agree. They thought I was talking rubbish a few years back. Well said!
-
They can't help themselves...the trained News mind has a tendency to Catastrophize...they're attracted to trainwrecks & explosions, literal & political. I expect most are privately horrified & a little aroused at the situ'?
-
This can only be true.
-
I have to assume they do understand and they want a Trump style government. Question is why? Will these people benefit financially? Why doesn’t Starmer clear out the Tory/Reform shills who run the BBC?
-
Isn’t this the new policy in action? More programming to attract the right wing back to watching the BBC? There will be a through the keyhole with Andrew Tate and Tommy Robinson next 🙄
-
The Mail backed Hitler before WW11 !
-
We're being steered.
-
Big money dictating the narrative 😠
-
Who is implicated by Epstein? All of them, including the ‘royal’ family, hyper rich businessmen, media company owners et al. Those who don’t want anyone looking closely need distractions - hence Farage, the biggest distraction of them all. Power and money will try to hold onto power and money.
-
-
This is what has happened in the US. MSM is state media for the GOP (oligarchs).
-
Definitely 👍
-
Blame Labour they should have taken bbc news and politics by the scruff of the neck when England booted Torys oot.
-
Yes worrying times!
-
No wonder Marx found inspiration for the Communist Manifesto in both Germany and Britain. The elites' disdain for the working class there has always been truly exemplary – and dangerous.
-
Well then i suppose that after Republicans LOSE next November and the dictator is placed 'Out Of Business ', their public reporting time will be 'limited or eliminated '! MAYBE THEN the BBC & SKY NEWS will get the message!
-
Maybe time for all us rancid left wingers to withhold our license fees
-
Starmer is in a position to sort out the bias at the top of the BBC. But he won’t. Because he also actively supports the rise of the far right. It would be more honest if Starmer & his Cabinet of racists & fools just crossed the floor of the HoC and sat next to Farage’s fascists.
-
The Global Uber rich, Zuckerberg and Musk included, are trying to take over global pokitics. They have rigged the USA and now seek the 1st world countries still remaining. Fight back! Vote progressive and ahit them down. But...Vet then thoroughly. The press won't.
-
Rule by Rupe.
-
The BBC is openly contributing towards its own downfall, they must know that immediately upon the arrival of a Farage government, they are history, they are despised by them,or maybe they are trying to cultivate favour?
-
I think there's an awful lot of people in positions of power and influence whose first choice was the respectable bigotry and plutocratic paternalism of the Thatcherite Tories, but now faced with the choice of watered down social democracy vs Actual Fascism, have decided they prefer the latter
-
It's clickbait.
-
How on earth did this kind of cr@p spread all over the world at the same time?
-
Apparently, they've not learned their lessons by watching America. We are in big trouble over here because stupidity, cowardice & laziness. It's almost like no one knows anything about history.
-
Capital will always side with fascists. The current economic power structure is entirely compatible with fascism but it’s not compatible with leftist ideology so the left gets left out of corporate media.
-
There is no interrogation of the racism at the heart of Reform ( the BBC is too timid to do this see its apology to Jenrick). No putting to him of the counter view that immigration is a good. No putting to him that Brexit is a disaster. No questioning of the extremism of his plans. Just affirmation
-
The bbc has a huge responsibility for gifting NF political power. I’m curious as to why Labour hadn’t addressed this. They may like it.
-
Without a doubt, what we saw on the BBC the other day was planned. It is impossible to argue they didn’t plan it. I’ve complained and await the usual “we can’t comment on editorial decisions” reply before escalating to Ofcom. I’ve been an editor, they can comment on decisions.
-
BBC Scotland flung out their guidelines a long time ago.
-
Looks like the heads of the BBC actually want to destroy the BBC, That's the goal
-
I was struck that the BBC reported the Farage deportation speech without any challenge - even to his claim to be defending "our" women & children - but then aggressively argued with Labour minister on the impact of their policies
-
Crisis actors need Crisis Producers

We are in so much trouble
-
Do they stand to benefit in some way from the ensuing chaos the shock doctors are engineering?
-
What do the top teams of news organisations expect will happen to them by putting themselves in thrall to the shock doctors behind the far-right?
-
Yep. Follow the money. And here is a hint of the chaos the UK will be subjected to if Farage and Co. form a government. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
CDC erupts in chaos after ousted chief Susan Monarez refuses to resign
Lawyers for Monarez say she was ‘targeted’ for ‘protecting the public’ by not endorsing ‘unscientific’ orders
-
One Sky reporter did call out Farage on Monday over detaining and deporting women and children refugees, Farage the twat said he would, now suddenly changed his mind getting flack
-
We have a voice. Two things. Make much more of the fact that "small boats" are a direct consequence of Brexit. Start looking at a different way of absorbing & integrating refugees, like most normal countries do.
-
Why aren’t Labour, Libs, SNP and Greens challenging this ?
-
Why for the last 15 years or so do they never repeatedly challenge the idea that asylum seekers are illegal immigrants?
Why have they let that wrong idea become widespread?
-
OR they understand fine where we are heading & are trying to position themselves to best advantage....they don't agree or disagree their just bothered about their jobs....you saw the same thing in Germany in the 30s.
-
People don't realise it is the endgame of capitalism to use the state to act for the benefit of capital, not workers. The installation of a Reform government and removal from the ECHR suits the big media and their associated billionaires.
-
They said to themselves, "we have to choose between fascism and allowing trans people to exist," and decided they couldn't bear the latter, so they've thrown their lot in with the fascists.
-
Many of our leaders know the extinction is closer than we're told(true), believe there is no solution (false), believe they can survive it (unclear) and are accelerating it (was being proven pre Jan 20).

They wish to end up like WAPO, CNN, even NYT? Pathetic, supine organisations fawning over a fascist dictator? It's hard to believe but as you say, the evidence is there. And we've seen the damage it has wreaked in the US.

Evergreen post
-
That this has only just occurred to many surprises me. It's been going on for at least 10 years. Farage has been championed by the BBC even while a barely attending unknown MEP. He was getting airtime on QT and any other outlet the BBC could find for him
-
This has been glaringly obvious for years. Starmer should have cleared out all the Tory appointees, and given the replacements carte blanche to fire their mini-mes too.
-
Much of the media are making a huge mistake in enabling the march towards fascism. They will be one of the first victims of a new far-right Gleichschaltung.
-
It all began when Andrew Gilligan was sacked for producing a Newsnight episode that questioned the dossier for war in Iraq. The BBC News department career promotion pathway has been biased towards sneering Kuensberg types ever since. I want a TV license without news!
-
Why haven’t labour replaced the Tory political appointees
-
The BBCs main demographic is 55+, and its audience is only going to get older. The BBC can only survive by confirming the bias of its audience.
-
I don't watch the BBC or any TV but I find this constant promoting of Farage and his poisonous policies very worrying. It makes a mockery of balance and it just seems to me that the far right have hijacked the BBC, a coup if you will, government should look into it but they seem to be supporting it!
-
You're just realising this now?
-
Over there too? 🇬🇧 Did you learn nothing from our huge political mistskes in America? 🇺🇸
-
Wow, the Trump parasite is infecting the BBC now. I feel bad for their viewers. In America, we know the damage it will cause and it's not pretty.
-
They are infested with right-wingery.
-
Farage gets views/clicks, so producers platform him. It's a positive feedback loop.
-
Absolutely
-
Same reason most information is framed now adays. One I like to think about is Israel conflict vs the Ukraine conflict. Way more innocent suffering in Ukraine, more death and way more clear cut moral grounds yet everyone focuses on Israel. Very interesting and the answer is obvious. Humans suck.
-
Sadly it isn’t new, George. The left has never been granted the same access or amplification as the right. From the Cold War witch hunts to the vilification of miners, anti-war campaigners, or Corbyn supporters, the media has always policed the boundaries of “acceptable” politics. 1/2
-
It’s only positive airtime - never questioned, never put under any pressure - he’d fold the minute he was. I’m sorry BBC, but you are becoming an irrelevance, no longer trusted
-
All they want is to keep riding the gravy train.
-
Rage baiting gets viewers
-
You would think looking at the US right now would give them a hint of what their future would be.
-
Until people start turning it off things will never change. Most reasonably well-informed people know what Farage is but won't say it.
-
dangerous game for the BBC as Farage will close it
