OK, maybe a Canadianism and maybe Americanism too referring specifically to pedophiles. Your meaning is recognised in Canada too. I suspect it has Gaelic roots. Pedophiles want something too and have many tricks to obtain it. Like drugs or coercion. "Diddler on the Roof" scans better.
