Interested in all things nuclear or high voltage — our attendant histories of research and engineering. Industrially hygienic. All posts here do not represent my employer.

  1. Introducing her to a blow dryer almost immediately seems to have yielded a great disinterest in all of the household noise making machines that can often upset many rescued dogs I’ve known.

I have to give others the option because despite some effort the blow dryer still really scares them.

Olive the Boston terrier sits willingly and yawns during an after-bath blow drying.

  2. Lack of access to lightweight explosives seems to be THE barrier to drone terrorism outside of active war zones.

ipso facto, if you’re worried about drone terrorism, you should be channeling as many resources as possible into explosives control.

This is an OK piece on how drones could potentially be used for terrorism in the U.S….but the example case cited here, in which Neo-Nazi Skyler Philippi plotted to blow up an energy facility with a drone in 2024, has been, IMO, overblown as an example of a drone terrorism near-miss:

Experts say extremists openly talking of how home-built drones will be critical tool in so-called second civil war

Alarm as US far-right extremists eye drones for use in domestic attacks

  3. More before further storms.

Might’ve overestimated our DIY capability for one weekend but it is up and pretty much sealed.

Have to put a roof on yet but then it will be a place for some of those solar panels the county donated to the community.

And strapping, install +2 windows. Endless, really.
