they're still maniacally strict about it! I worked for two years at the World Market downtown and we'd periodically get letters from the authorities saying basically:
"we sent someone UNDERAGE to try and buy booze and you DIDN'T SELL to them, GOOD JOB, you would have been in BIG TROUBLE if you did"

the only worthwhile thing at that intersection is the nice grocery where Dominicks used to be (Valli?) and you have to cross an expanse of parking lot to get there from the saddest little Starbucks in town.
