I understand completely what you mean here. Putins ability to wield power far in excess of what the country is actually capable of is certainly remarkable. He is orchestrating the destruction of the United States during his tenure. That takes competence. It sucks and I despise him but it is true.

All I can think of is how I never really made it past 2C when reading “Six Degrees” by Mark Lynas. At 2, everything just sort of comes apart and the whole system breaks. And that is now considered an old book. Things have gotten worse since then from a biosphere perspective.

The manosphere would have you believe that protection is nothing but physical security. That it's being prepared at all times to hurt others if necessary
But real modern masculinity is this, it's offering emotional protection, and emotional security. It's providing a literal safe space for everyone
I love this so much and I am absolutely tearing up about it. The gentleness and plainness of this, the way he just lets her be her (and she seems so damn lovely, who wouldn’t?), the generosity.
It isn’t going to solve the world’s problems, but this kind of humanity is a hell of a start.

I honestly cannot believe that smart people still read the NYT after all they have done. It is mind boggling to me how they still get a pass in the eyes of so many who should know better.
