Apparently, inflation is bad, but we must impose tariffs to raise the cost of cheap imports so people buy expensive American goods. We can re-shore manufacturing, but to be cost competitive, we have to fully automate factories, replacing American workers with robots.
Or, if you’re a car manufacturer, invest in European manufacturing as it’s cheaper to pay the 15% tariff on completed cars than it is to manufacture here and pay 50% tariffs on steel.

Yeah, the car thing alone is absolutely bonkers, the amount of times parts go back and forth across the U.S./Mexico/Candada borders during assembly of “American-made” vehicles is wild, it’s almost as though no actual economists were involved in the planning 🧐😵💫
