I’ve heard military law experts advise, if you are given an illegal command as a soldier, do not blindly obey. Call your attorney. Obeying an illegal command can result in a court martial.

You could pick almost any statistic - murder rate, poverty rate (see graphic below), obesity rate, median family income, education attainment, ... and red states occupy most of the bottom rungs of the ladder whereas blue states occupy most of the top rungs. Yet, red states keep voting red.
