It’s often from people who claim to be super left too. Pisses me off no end.
There was a lot of similar imagery with Cameron/Legge at the start of the coalition. Didn't like it then, don't like it now. And it was often from the 'right on' left, who should know better.
They don't care and they won't stop. It's just like all the pictures that make Trump look much bigger than he is, because just like being gay, being fat is disgusting. Homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, racism etc all stem from the same root.
Some people just need a good fist applied directly to the face to get the message

They don't write "Joe Blogs is a cis writer..."

Seems like a calback to this, but who's going to remember? 'They're gay for each other' is always going to be the takeaway. If Trump were a woman, most of the stuff being put around in this vein would be unquestionably misogynistic.
