There are no statues of Rommel or Manstein or Guderian in Germany. We don't need ststues of Lee or Jackson or even Albert Pike. They fought for a dreadful cause. They lost bigly. To hell with 'em.

If I wanted to celebrate a bunch of losers, I'd just buy season tickets for the Minnesota Vikings.

Germany does have monuments to the NAZI era 😉
There are several old concentration camps you can visit
-
If monuments to the Confederacy must remain to "teach the history", then they should only and always be displayed alongside the unredacted and uninterpreted text of the Declarations of Secession.
Y'know, so people can see, in the Confederates' own words, what it was that they chose to fight for.

They were fucking TRAITORS!

You know Trump thinks there will be gold statues of him lining the halls of the White House. Not to mention a UGE one in that new ballroom. He's probably already commissioned it.
-
Pike’s signature move for the Confederacy was quitting. Yeah he needs a statue.
-
Like, even if he never rebelled, what is there a statue for? Oh he sued on behalf of Natives? That's great let's look at the rest of his legal career--agitated for secession, opposed voting rights, might have been in the Klan. Yeah, sure, sounds good toss ten statues for that sterling record.

No more racist traitor statues!

Fort Bragg. The fucking maggots named it back to Bragg and offered the explanation that it memorialized some relatively obscure soldier from WW2 also named Bragg. There are few aspects of American life MAGA is not meddling with. If any.

you can't say bigly, while he's president. sorry. I don't make the rules

Extended family member in Virginia griped that taking down the rows of Confederate statues in Richmond "deprived us of our heritage." I replied, "That's what books are for." It was no accident that growing up in Fifties Alabama, I was 12 years old before I understood the Confederacy LOST.
-
If you believe in that they are already there.
-
For real. Since when do we celebrate the losers?
-
Put them all back up. With a placard "Rebelled in 1861. Surrendered in 1965."
-
They were TRAITORS
-
There are plenty of Confederate statues in front if every small town courthouse in the South. We should have finished them the way Sherman finished Georgia.
-
Call them generals committing treason in defense of slavery every chance you get. And once that statue is upright again, some interesting possibilities arise with the placard that explains just who this bronze dork is.
-
Even among Confederates, Pike was a bad ‘un.
-
MAGA is literally re-fighting the Civil War. It’s important for everyone to understand what is at the core of this “movement.” The statue nicely captures it, but the reality is an America for Whites Only - MAWO - is what they’re after.

*statues. Let your fingers do the stumbling.
-
Aspirational figures. That means winners or those who failed in a noble cause, and given the stated causes of that war, it was not noble.

“Protect and respect our heritage” they cry, as they bury and delete the history of slavery, Jim Crow, racial massacres, and genocide on the natives.
-
So what does "honoring" this heritage do to the memories of those who died for the Union?
Don't their memories deserve to be honored? This sort of thing disrespects them.
