Russia has been doing this more and more frequently, testing the West's reaction and escalating each time because there's never been any adequate consequences for them. They've been doing it for years. When will someone finally stand up to them?

I used to read books like Lord of the Rings or watch movies like Star Wars and think the villains were unbelievable. And of course, now watching the tech oligarchs (who could not spend all their money if they tried) destroy civilization for power, I’m like, guess I was wrong. People are that awful.

"Eroding public trust in institutions" has been the Republican project since Ronald Reagan. It's just gone into high gear with Trump. The rationale: who would want to pay taxes to fund institutions that are incompetent and/or corrupt?
