Is it acceptable to bring excess water (6 cups sorta) to boil, add rice and then just drain out the water when cooked. Or 1:2 rice water?

  1. that washes away a lot of the nutrients that are in the rice. the standard for cooking rice (and most grains) is 1:2 so if you bring that to a boil and then a low simmer the rice will absorb all the water and loose very little nutrients
