So, why don't we encourage all the young people with big student loans to join up? They can get their loans forgiven, get huge paychecks for a year or so, do very little, and then leave?

To be fair, and lot of federal positions offer this as a job perk. I was on active duty army and have often looked through job postings on USAJobs where loan forgiveness is offered.
