You're applying blobs and lines of color to give the impression of a large mass of individuals when seen at arms length.
Back to work on the 2mm scale II/11 Gallic army for De Bellis Antiquitatus 3 — those Marian Romans will need someone to fight against, right?
I've only just started, but the Gauls are proving harder to paint than the Romans.
