You may be thinking "How can an entire political party be organized around the policy of taking from everyone and giving to the rich? No one would vote for them." Well that's where Lying comes in

Replies

  1. Especially in the USA everyone is told that they are or will be rich as long as they work hard.

  2. America has a 10,000 to 1 gullible to liar ratio. Years in the planning, now the plan bears fruit. A large orange colored one.

  3. It doesn't help that the "opposition" party also thinks you're lazy and would rather give billions to microchip and weapons manufacturers than extend the childhood tax credit.

  4. It's also where Faux, Newmax and their hate media come in. Republican voters will vote R even when they know R policies are screwing them because they are convinced that the R party is the party of morality, patriotism etc and the rest of us are the Other.

  5. A lot of it is also a massive temper tantrum. That makes it sound mild but it is not mild. The Nazis could also be described that way. They believed they could not get their way without terrible violence.

  6. Thing is, the rich have spent a ton of time and money spreading the propoghanda that anyone who isn't out for themselves is a liar who is trying to fool you.

We've been taught to view greed and callousness as "honest."

  7. Reagan, even with Alzheimer's was a master of lying. The last generation of republicans knew they were lying, this generation believes the lies, that is the scary part. The Johnson, Voight, Miller are not liars so much as religious zealots on a mission. Baby Jesus told them so.

  8. “But isn’t there a fourth estate of some sort to identify the truth? An industry to look at the claims and, perhaps, MEDIAte?”

  9. “If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you”

  10. And boy do we have so many safeguards against liars...The media will post everything you say next to actual experts as if they are equivalent. You can say you love the troops will defending the VA. We officially have the memory of Goldfish!

  11. "Divide and rule" has been a motto for the politically ambitious since the very beginnings of civilisation. Trump is undoubtedly a vile moron, but he certainly understood the truth of that maxim. He recognised his road to power lie in inciting the hate of the MAGA mob. Now they will suffer.

  12. Also that people care more about their socio-cultural status than their class interest. They’re perfectly fine giving trillions to those who don’t need it, if those who need it belong to groups of people they hate.

  13. They are a death cult. And much like any other cult, they will give away their money, their lives, just bc the cult leaders told them it would lead to a better future. But they never do.

Unfortunately in this instance they are taking all of us with them.

  14. Poor Republicans are convinced that benefiting from their own taxes is communism & don't realize their representatives actually want to cut their benefits. Rich Republicans are laughing at all of you losers. Both comprise less than 25% of voters, because the US is not a democracy.

  15. Honestly though, until the last few years they just didn’t lie about it. That’s the interesting shift. They all used to sign a no tax pledge whose stated aim was to shrink government until it could be drowned in a bathtub. They started signing that in the 90s. After 2012 most of them started lying.

  16. The saddest thing is, you can’t truly describe Republican policies without it sounding like you made it up. Nobody would really want things that are THAT bad. And people who don’t follow closely enough think it’s all just noise.

  17. We've always expected our politicians to lie. But once upon a time, we had journalists to fact-check them. While there are some OUTSTANDING journalists still out there, about half have just become propaganda tools. We need to pass laws against lying. If we ever get to have laws against.

  18. I abhore lying. Lying wins by using fear. Fear that you won't get to be what you want. Fear of injustice. It is the opposite of truth. The truth may hurt but it doesn't lie to you. Your expectations become real with the truth. You can work with that. #resistanceisnotfutile #democracy

  19. I've noticed the opposite. People don't vote against their self-interest because they are deceived. In Australia, Britain and the USA, I've noticed when voters are tired of things not changing much, they turn to self-flagellation to try to jazz things up. They think the pain might do them some good.

  20. Because the average citizen pays absolutely no attention to the world around them. So who do they vote for? The face they see on the screen the most often. They watch nothing but reality shows. Look how many people were surprised when the realized on election day that Biden wasn't running?

  21. Just curious why republicans get caught lying time and time again, yet people expect differently from them. Yet democrats make realistic promises, fulfill them, yet people are quick to dismiss them as lies.

I blame the media conditioning people into this abusive relationship.

  22. Close but I was thinking "How can two entire political parties be organized around the policy of taking from everyone and giving to the rich?"

  23. Well, I don't know about all that, but I really do appreciate the sacrifices they're going to make for my tax cut. That willingness to see your kids die just to own the libs makes America THA BEST!

I'm going to look for a new rental property in a deep red county! I'm going to help local economies!

  24. And I gotta tell ya. Those folks don’t care. I’d be surprised if the rural hospital network collapses and it makes a major change in how people vote to own the libs.

  25. If you package it with enough racism and claims that the poorer will be even hit more, it historically works. Wasn’t that what the latter part of 19th century was in the US?

    1
  26. Also, letting the billionaires who own your "democratically elected" representatives own your news media so they can lie to get more tax cuts, because they believe that they can never have too much money.

  27. telling you that taking away your entitlements is actually saving your entitlements kinda feels like gaslighting

  28. Lying is a weapon, a tactic, and there's layers to it. There's advanced lying strategy, there's high elo lies. Study up and one day you can get hired as a spokesperson

  29. The secret ingredient is thinking no one but you is real. Isn’t it straaaaaaaaaaaaange that all the young(er than 75) guns seem to think we live in a simulation or by Elder Scrolls rules

Don't give the GOP members of Congress a minute of peace.

You have a right to call anyone in Congress. Here's the senator phone list.

    There are 53 Republican Senators

Call every day. Ok to call off hours and blow up their VM.

Be vocal. Be visible. Be disruptive.

    Make the calls

  31. Here's a thought...Republicans in Congress vote for Trump 's bill because they feel secure that they are in office because the elections were rigged and their future elections will be securely rigged.

  32. "Ah, but surely, after they've been elected, the people realize they've been lied to and never elect those scumbags again, right?"

"No, they elect them even harder, for spite."

  33. Bruh, the whole concept of "We have to give the rich more money, to give you more money, because the poor have all the money" proves you can sell anything with the right marketing.

  34. Thats too simplistic. And many know about the lies and vote for them anyway.

The confederates were never properly dealt with after the civil war. We let them into every party and institution instead of hanging, shooting or sending them to uninhabited island.

  35. Sometimes they try to fool us by being truth-adjacent. Other times, they go with fibs, distortions, and prevarication. Then, they go back to lying.
