What if human flourishing is maximized at some optimal point between extreme abundance and extreme scarcity? We need a little struggle, but not too much. Too many resources and we degenerate like the humans in Wall-E.

The "Goldilocks Zone" of consumerism is somewhere in the area of production efficiency and ownership of the means of that production by the workers. We're experiencing extreme abundance now, pay walled behind the privatization of all resources and that surplus hoarded by greedy elites.
