As Trump tightens his grip on the DC police and escalates his deployment of the National Guard there, it's probably worth noting that an internal Department of Homeland Security memo says operations like the one in LA may be needed "for years to come."

Press needs to stop repeating govt euphemism of “clearing homeless camps.” I’ve witnessed it in other cities: massive destruction of personal property. Not just bedrolls & tents; family photos, Bibles, meds. Times I’ve seen it people weren’t even given option to move their things.

My own view is that it was really smart of D.C. to wait for the Trump admin. to overplay its hand before suing.
It's one thing to invoke the emergency police support provision of the Home Rule Act in specific cases; it's something else entirely to claim it allows the feds to take over the MPD.
Among other things, this is a stunning waste of resources. I promise you that those FBI agents have actual jobs and investigatory responsibilities that this playacting is taking them away from
