I was able to make it to the official ribbon cutting ceremony this morning for the newly modernized Truesdell Elementary School in Brightwood Park! Lots of celebration in the air for this beautiful new campus in Ward 4! Thank you to @janeese4dc.bsky.social for your leadership and support on this!

Here's what the third day of elementary school looked like in Mount Pleasant, Washington DC.
UPDATE: Our Ward 4 neighbor has been released & retrieved his car this morning. Thank you to our neighbors for showing up in numbers.
This is how we get through this: we keep fighting, we keep showing up, we keep recording, we keep speaking out, and we keep organizing!

Just leaving the scene of yet another neighbor being taken today. Delivering food to a neighbor, stopped, surrounded by multiple agencies of law enforcement and arrested. No pretext.

When law enforcement are taking away members of our community without probable cause, based only what they look like, it’s clear that what’s happening in DC right now this is deeply un-American and unconstitutional.

This video makes it clear that many federal agents aren’t stopping residents based on warrants or reasonable suspicion — they’re abducting people based on racial profiling and only then releasing them once their status is verified.
This is blatantly unconstitutional.
On Friday in Columbia Heights, HuffPost observed masked federal agents detain a man insisting he had legal status and pleading that his wife had recently given birth and couldn’t walk.
Some of the highest-profile arrests during the D.C. “crime emergency” are of immigrants — especially delivery workers for companies like DoorDash.

Another lie from the White House. Since they put these federal agents out across neighborhoods I’ve heard from many restaurants that business is starkly down - customers & staff concerned about the harassment by agents they’re seeing on streets.
