I am a VERY compulsive saver! I can't help it!

I just don't... Believe it's actually doing it? Haha
-
i blame elder scrolls and fallout for my compulsive saving habits. Oh and pokemon too!
-
The Switch port of Mario RPG keeps trying to tell me I DON'T need to hop on the Star Blocks to save. Not today, Satan.
-
Pokemon taught me a very valuable lesson π€§
-
Auto save is the ultimate QTE that you never pay attention to.
-
I think I said it before. I tend to forget that I saved not even 10 seconds ago. So I double save.
-
Type fast save often ππ
-
Jesus saves
-
Also hold cntrl and press C twice just to make sure it's coppied
-
Every time I hit enter, I reflexively hit CTRL-S.
it's fun and easy.
-
I'm always, ALWAYS, the latter. My mouse now knows where to go by itself ... possibly the greatest invention of all time! It starts slowly, then moves up, to the left, clicking on that folder. I smile and say, "Good mouse. Very good mouse."
-
Traumatized by Adobe and SolidWorks, periodic CTRL+S is a subconscious action much like breathing.

Me in bg3

Save early and often, I was taught. π¬π
-
great meme format
-
I get so into playing that I forget to save, Iβm really riding a fine line π€£

Don't know how many times I've been burnt in Baldur's Gate 3, thinking I had an autosave, only to find it was like 20-30 minutes ago after a wipe in a fight. Now I find myself quick saving so often, and sometimes doing manual saves on top of that.
-
I always save at least twice in a row even though that doesn't make a difference. You gotta make sure the game knows you saved, even if you already did lol.
-
Auto save only works when it doesn't need to.
-
My BG3 run has so many saves I'm afraid my hard drive is almost full.
-
Only twice? Someone likes to live on the edge
-
See I read trust the Autoclave and I didn't understand it
-
Saving Scum is my second name
-
I am very bad at remembering to save... ππ¦
-
Same here I heard many in my class who said they autosave didn't save anything or so, and they had to redo all the stuff they did π₯²π
-
That's actually a good habit if you use different save files. In some games it's just must be done
-
Save early, save often. Now, ask me how often I follow that mantra...
-
Tell me you played FF2 without telling me you played FF2
-
Where is Luigi?!π
-
I've been burned too many times by not saving enough!
-
I was at the boss fight for twilight princess. My save file was first slot. My sis was also playing. She and I went to switch off and she asked me to save her game as she left the room. In my muscle memory and haste I saved her file right over mine.
-
especially it's baldur's gate 3π₯΄
-
Spamming save is the only way i know
-
Dishonored 2ππΎββοΈ
-
Itβs nice to know Iβm not the only one who does this π
-
Oh this is me in a nutshell
-
It only takes one instance of the computer glitching while you're working on something major to turn someone into a compulsive saver.
#CompulsiveSaversForLife
-
Manual save, then save again on exit
-
Rpg brain fr
-
I worked too hard for my game progress. I am keeping every second of my grind, thank you very much.
-
Can't always trust anything that's automatic.
-
Smart tho fr. Trust no auto
-
ESPECIALLY when it comes to games that feel really unfair at times!
-
Yep. I was especially like this with Baldurβs Gate 3.
-
80s Save Protocol: save early, save often.
-
Save often!!! Save early!!!
-
Save scumming 4 life
-
Entering my old man in his 30s stage. Back in my day you saved twice every 15 minutes of the BSOD would eat your word document!
I refuse to change my ways, thems be the ways I Is raised!
-
I get mine from the PS1 memory cards erasing saves every now and then.
-
Always doing this since I had a corrupted savefile problem on one game. π
-
Hitting quicksave every 5 steps just in case there is encounter behind the next corner. Also forgetting you saved so just quicksaving once again.
-
I trusted autosave only once and lost a whole hour of work on a project because the program suddenly crashed. Never again π
-
A.B.S = Always Be Saving
-
Auto save burned me ONCE and it never will again!!
-
Mine stems from working on 90s PCs that only had enough ram for 3 backsteps in photoshop ... I don't miss those days!
-
Or knowing you went to the menu and hit save, but didn't see file saved so you save again just to be sure.
-
Minecraft on console, I always leave autosave off
-
Game crashes be giving us trust issues. Gotta triple save just to be safe. π
-
So Every Bethesda game ever π
-
I never shut off a game without a manual save. This is the way
-
Ctrl+S has become involuntary for me :)
-
THANKS YOU FOR SHARING THIS ITS NOT LIKE EVERY GAMER DOES THIS
-
Itβs a good habit to maintain, especially if you go to play retro games without autosaves.
-
BotW really drove the lesson home. π¬
-
Just had this happen to me while playing Kotor. A days worth of progress gone after I died.
-
Generational trauma of losing saves.
-
OMG saammmeeeee
-
Whenever I get lax about it, without fail, my game will crash.
-
I wish that I was a compulsive saver (working on saving frequently), and I end up getting so into a drawing that I forget. Unintentionally, yet intentionally living life on the edge π
-
when the game makes me unable to save i lose my mind
-
Yeah autosave is hit and miss in a lot of games, wish more like how it was done in Alien Isolation where auto save points were common but a regular save point was always in reach.
-
Thereβs a term for that: save scumming
-
Anyone who was around for the early MSOffice years knows the pain of losing a few hours work in a flash.
Those years before autosave were very dark and dangerous times.
-
Donβt trust saving in general! I just lost 400 hours of Pokemon saves on my switch!
-
@maisy.likesdinosaurs.com once youβve been burnt, you learn not to play with fire.
-
spamming ctrl+s or the save button 57 times
-
Some learned save habits are hard to break away from.
-
I experienced trauma once in college, it has never happened again.
-
Copy / paste as well.
CTRL-C CTRL-C CTRL-C CTRL-C CTRL-C CTRL-V
-
Auto save will take me back to seconds before I beat the challenging obstacle and I will do worse every time after
-
I will save scum to the point I've locked myself out of certain options. Literally saved so hard I got Wrex killed in Mass Effect (didn't do his loyalty mission soon enough) and suffocated myself over and over in Metro.
-
It only takes one mental breakdown from an erased college essay to learn this lesson π
-
Yup.
I totally understand this mood. It takes one save corruption or lapse in memory for saving and it forever sticks with you. X3
-
Always twice. And the first save twice to make sure you ACTUALLY saved.
-
i did this so many times in my pokemon games
-
π
-
Final Fantasy for the NES taught me to be diligent about saving. Also Dragon Warrior games.
-
I lost 13 pages of writing due to faulty MS Word autosave. I am never trusting it again!
-
Iβve been this way since the first #MetalGearSolid on the OG #Playstation memory cards!
-
I forgot to save most of the time, weirdly it has not backfired yet
-
Autosave has fucked me over more times than not saving has
-
I learned the hard way so now I am very compulsive saver.
-
You assume I trust my memory that I manually saved...
-
Auto save has hurt me so, so many times.
-
We've been through too many tragedies to not double save
-
i had a game corrupt my save once. it was persona 4 on the ps3, apparently the ps2 emulator on ps3 was so bad on the playstation store that it would delete your save files
i still don't double save my games or make backups
-
Damn, how did auto saves hurt you? What did they do?
-
Now why did I think this meant financial savings at first
-
only once or twice
think big and go for 25
-
The trauma i felt from losing my progress because i forgot to save from Pokemon Emerald is irreversible.
-
This hits home
-
if i had no save restriction i'd do this doing RE2R leon hardcore S+
-
I support and do it for years. Better save than sorry π
-
At least twice.
-
Write once, save twice.
-
Got burned on Morrowind. Now my save list could reach the sun.
-
Always manually save. And in multiple slots.
-
Me doing both
-
i treat autosave as a last life of defense for when my editor just crashes for no good reason
-
Too bad you couldn't auto save your actual life. How brilliant would that be?
-
Do this all the time ....trust but verify
-
Depends on the game for me. Some are dependable, like platformers or GTA. But some, Iβll never let them get the chance! Like Fallout!
-
Never trust the auto save. It's always outdated when needed
-
Always twice. Then sometimes I quit the game and load back in just to verify it did indeed save, even though if it didnβt Iβm out of luck anyways.
-
The amount of dragons that I've slain 17 times in a row (instead of just once), because I didn't quick save after slaying said dragon is embarrassing.
#Skyrim
Yes, still playing in 2024!
-
I thought this was about money & I thought βI wish I had this problemβ but then realized what was happening & knew that I had this problem
-
-
Yeah, been burned too many times
-
I "save as" with a updated name every major change I make to an important docxs document. Have lost full files + not having a previous version to go back to, ...so I'm traumatized.
-
Or three times, just to be sure, because maybe the save corrupts (none of my saves ever corrupted in my life but what if).
-
Skyrim, and every other Bethesda game.
-
I was told I could have multiple saves on Skyrim but my new game overrode my old one and I still haven't recovered 10 years later. I will always manually save 2 or 3 times from now on π
-
Hahaha....I'm the same way! Been burnt too many times with the "autosave" not working.
-
Why are you talking about me? /j
-
Say-So!
Save And Save Often!
-
I like to apply this principle to personal finance.
-
Why would I trust an autosave? I don't know when it happens. I've never used it.
-
So incredibly relatable.
-
You never know when the next earthquake might happen
-
You know what happens when you play around with save points too much? youtu.be/W7h_BgLxAIc
-
Play once, save twice and maybe once more to be sure.
-
Locally, to the cloud, and for important things once a day on a USB stick. Back in training I lost nearly a week worth of work in a freak electrical surge that fried my desktop and for some reason my auto-backup got turned off. It was pre-cloud.
-
Put some currency in ur mattress, they are canceling bank accounts already, for dubious reasons. Cancelled one on a 4 H girl, she earned the money selling her prize rabbits. Arizona . Look it up . Just FYI
-
Me for real spastic saving is the only way
-
Thatβs me when mining in Minecraftβ¦ and after a huge harvest.
-
As someone who played PC games in the 90s, I can never trust autosaves and always rotate at least 10 manual save slots, just in case. Never needed now but I canβt help it.
-
-
My F5 key is abused like an altar boy in a small town church.
-
Same. I've been hurt too many times before π©
-
Facts.. fool me once you MOFO
-
Three or five times for me.
-
When you lock your car, you gotta double tap to super lock it.
-
Games that don't have a manual save drive me INSANE
-
Aye, honestly I'm glad Dragon Quest does that whole organ piece when saving, helps it stick in my brain that I saved
-
Back in the 80βs when I was a wee lad writing programs in basic, we had a saying. βJesus saves often you should tooβ and Iβve applied that to gaming as well. Iβve had to delete saves to make room for more saves. I usually keep the first save for a level and delete all others at that level.
-
Yep.
-
He who laughs last just made a backup.
-
This should be taught to all young gamers.
-
Join the club!
-
I can relate... How lazy are you if you can't remember to save your work all by yourself? Does your mommy remind you to brush your teeth?
-
Put it this way, I've almost tried to impulsively save a physical document on the table I'm writing on with a pen.
-
You save an even number of times?
-
I vary greatly on saving. Either it's frequent and disregard the auto save, or I forget saving is a concept. If it's a hard af game, I'm saving a lot. I refuse to be burned again by my mistakes.
-
i have too many hours on skyrim not to manually save constantly
-
When you come from a generation of corruptible save cards (especially the generic ones) and no autosaves this is the only way to play. π
-
*Quick sav- Quick saving
*Quic- *Quicksa- Quicksaving
Dies Quickload Dies Quickload Dies Quickload
-
You don't forget when it happens
-
Thatβs because you have been a victim of a crash, itβs truly scaring.
-
When using any software that requires picking up where you left off; save early, save often.
-
Truth!
-
It's still not saved until you commit and push.
-
Also, saving with a new file name in case the manual saves didnβt actually save.
-
Guilty as well, the trauma of having so many hours of gameplay just casually erased....nope
Lol the worst was metal gear....3? The bad guy was mantis, and he was psychic and when you fight him he called me out for saving a lot.....blew my mind lol
-
Me in a nutshell!
-
I'm old. I pre-date auto-save. I come from the "Save early; save often" era. I don't rely on auto-save. Ever.
-
"Save early, save often."
--Neverwinter Nights 2 loading screen
-
I'm the same way, I also still use floppy πΎ to back stuff up with. Yes I'm gen X π
-
"Triple save, ride the Zen wave."
-
A wise master saves often.
-
You only have to lose all your work once, to learn this harsh lesson.
-
Before I take my hand off the mouse, I hit save.
-
Recently I went back to play Skyrim and I decided to up the auto-save timer to 15 minutes.
The amount of progress I lost on my first death left me awestruck.
-
Me with every Pokemon game. I even triple save just to be safe.
