Attorney General Pam Bondi has named the head of the Drug Enforcement Administration as Washington’s “emergency police commissioner,” saying she is granting him the powers of the police chief amid the federal takeover.
Well, that’s not a thing. The Home Rule Act says POTUS can request the services of the police, not take them over and name a new “commissioner”. The Chief is still the Chief, and on day 31, the Mayor can stop granting the POTUS request for the services of MPD.
I don’t think we are going to “well actually” our way out of this. They do not care about the law.
Yes. But the Supreme Court has also given him immunity for pretty much anything he does while in office. So...So what?
Yeah, I was thinking under what authority do they think they can do this? Interesting that they do this while the mayor is out of town.
